Namma Metro (Bangalore)

Namma Metro (Kannadaನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೊ Our metro), also known as Bangalore Metro (Kannadaಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮೆಟ್ರೊ), is a mass-transit rail system for the city of BangaloreKarnatakaIndia. The agency responsible for its implementation is the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL). The first stretch between Baiyyappanahalli and M.G. Road was inaugurated on October 20, 2011.

Signaling and Communications

The integrated control centre at Byappanahalli has direct communication with trains and stations are CCTV fitted with visual and audio service information. Passengers have emergency voice communication with train staff.

The Namma Metro trains leave the station from Baiyappanahalli and MG Road at every interval of 10 minutes. The total time taken to traverse across several stations in between totally comes down to 12-14 minutes. So, it will be quite a quick ride. So, do not expect to stay on board for more time.

But, if you have got some time to kill, then the wise plan would be to travel to and fro from both the main stations, namely Baiyappanahalli and MG Road.
If you are travelling for fun and do not wish to stand in the long queues at both the stations, then it’s a wiser approach to purchase a Namma Metro Contactless Smartcard and use it at any station you wish. Just take care to keep a tab on the amount on the card.
